Jazz at Lincoln Center welcomes the return of GRAMMY award-winning saxophonist and 2011 NEA Jazz Master Branford Marsalis to the Rose Theater stage on April 5th and 6th, at 8pm for his exemplary Portraits of the Jazz Saxophone.
On this concert, Marsalis will express the full range of his technical excellence and compositional prowess while featuring the members of his quartet: pianist Joey Calderazzo, bassist Eric Revis, and drummer Justin Faulkner.

Marsalis has performed in some of the organizations most historic programs including “One Family of Jazz,” celebrating the 2004 grand opening of Frederick P. Rose Hall and “Higher Ground: Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert” in 2005. After his first appearance with the New York Philharmonic in the summer of 2010, Marsalis was again invited to join them as soloist in their 2010-2011 concert series where he unequivocally demonstrated his versatility, bringing “a gracious poise and supple tone… and an insouciant swagger” (New York Times) to the repertoire.
