Inez and Charles Barron reject Mayor De Blasio’s request for Townhall Meeting

Inez and Charles Barron

On Sunday October 1st at 3 p.m. at P.S. 13, located at 557 Pennsylvania Avenue between Livonia and Riverdale, Assembly Member Charles Barron and Council Member Inez Barron along with community leaders and residents of East New York will hold a press conference to explain why they have rejected Mayor de Blasio’s request for them to host a town hall meeting.

The Barron’s will share their joint statement explaining why they will not host the mayor for this town hall meeting.

The statement reads in part: “We believe it was disingenuous, self-serving and political opportunism for the mayor to request Council Member Inez Barron to host him at a town hall meeting a month before the general election. We‘ve already communicated to the mayor the needs of our community. We need the mayor to deliver and not give any more empty promises at a town hall meeting.”

The Barron’s said they would be glad to host the Mayor after the election in a town hall meeting that he can report back on what he has concretely delivered to the community. The Barron’s will elaborate more at the press conference on their reasons for rejecting the mayor’s request.
