LIVESTREAM – Today, top civil rights leaders, national advocates, journalists, and elected officials announced the inaugural State of the People address—a twenty-four-hour livestream kicking off before midnight on March 3rd and going through the State of the Union before midnight on March 4th. Joy Reid will kick off this marathon of critical conversations, her first appearance since her exit from MSNBC. The collective offers the American public a true assessment of the nation’s condition and provides an alternative to the State of the Union. Americans don’t want or need misleading rhetoric about this administration’s first two months—they are experiencing its harmful consequences firsthand. From stripping away thousands of jobs from Federal workers to baselessly attacking diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, this administration is prioritizing far-right interests over the nation’s well-being. In partnership with Native Land Podcast, top civil rights activists, issue advocacy experts, legal scholars, and exceptional journalists will gather for twenty-four hours to outline the impact of the administration’s actions and the organizing needed not only to survive but thrive over the next four years.
