It’s Summer and with Summer comes some awesome music experiences and offtimes they’re free. Brooklyn’s Kingsborough Community College is featuring their Hot Summer Nights Free Outdoor Concert Series under the stars, located at Brooklyn’s Kingsborough Community College every Saturday from July 1 – July 22nd.

HOT SUMMER NIGHTS! will feature a wide range of outstanding swing bands, with unforgettable al-fresco concerts under the stars. In the event of rain, the concert will be relocated to Leon M. Goldstein Performing Arts Center. Updated location information will be available on the box office line – (718) 368-5596 – starting at 4:00 p.m. on concert days.

Coming up this Saturday July 8 at 8:00pm, join jazz great Wycliffe Gordon and His International All Stars as he pays tribute to the greatest jazz musician of all time, Louis Armstrong, while transporting listeners to Crescent City along New Orleans’ Bourbon Street with such Armstrong gems as “When the Saints Go Marchin’ In,” and “St. Louis Blues.” Wycliffe Gordon is a former member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, five-time winner of Downbeat Magazine Critics’ “Best Trombone” Award, and nine-time Jazz Journalist Association’s “Trombonist of the Year” Award-Winner.

July 15 features Hot Jazz from the Golden Age of Hollywood with Dan Levinson’s Gotham Sophisticats featuring vocalist Molly Ryan. Enjoy a starlit evening of silver screen melodies that Fred & Ginger danced to – and Bing romanced to. Pick yourself up, shake the blues away, put on the ritz, and step out with your baby – you’ll be carrying moonbeams home in a jar! Dan Levinson has played with Mel Tormé, Wynton Marsalis, Woody Allen, Leon Redbone, Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks, and many more. He can be heard on numerous film soundtracks and on the Grammy-winning Boardwalk Empire.

July 22, grab your favorite swing partner and join Swingadelic, known as New York City’s greatest “little big band,” as they deliver the traditional Big Band and Great American Songbook music of Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Ray Charles, Dean Martin, and many more popular artists of the era in swingin’ style. Featuring Swing Dancers from The Rhythm Stompers. Swingadelic has recorded seven CDs that have been in the JazzWeek Radio charts top thirty, and garnered much critical acclaim. They have performed at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing, NJPAC, and numerous festivals, such as Bele Chere, MusikFest, and the CD 109 Jazz & Blues Festival.

All of the performances are On Stage at Kingsborough’s HOT SUMMER NIGHTS! The Outdoor Concert Series are free and take place by the sea and under the stars in Brooklyn. All concerts take place at Kingsborough’s Lighthouse Bandshell. Admission and parking is free and open to the public. Kingsborough’s gates open at 7:00 p.m. and the concerts begin at 8:00 p.m.
