In the movie, two missionaries visit the home of Mr. Reed, to tell him about the church of Latter-day Saints. Sister Barnes and Paxton are the missionaries visiting his home to do religious talks. They want to convert Mr.Reed. He said that his wife was making blueberry pie in the kitchen. When Reed goes out Barnes finds that the smell of the blueberry pie is from the candle. Reed lied to them about his wife. And then both the missionaries realize that the door is locked. They also notice that there is no phone signal in the house.
He appeared to be a good man but with time they realized that he had evil intentions. Between the conversations, Mr. Reed makes some uncomfortable statements. He gives them lectures about different religions. Mr. Reed also claims that he has found the true religion. Mr Reed also says that the front door is locked and he will show them another way to exit. He also promises them that he will allow them to leave. The two missionaries soon realize that they got trapped in his home. They now only have two ways to exit from that home. They can only choose between the door of belief and disbelief to find a way out. Now these two missionaries have to prove their faith before Mr.Reed.
The missionaries got trapped in the basement. There Mr. Reed says that he will show a miracle to them. Then an old lady appears and she eats a pie and dies. Reed said that the old lady would resurrect. When an elderly man from the Mormon church visits his home to enquire about sisters to Mr Reed, the old woman appears again in front of the missionaries. The old woman explains about after afterlife. The missionaries believe that Mr. Reed is tricking them by replacing the old woman. He is trying to manipulate the missionaries.
Mr. Reed attacks Sister Barnes and she apparently dies. Paxton eventually finds a room with women who are half-frozen. All those women were caged. Toward the end, a fight occurs between Paxton and Mr.Reed. Sister Barnes helps Paxton to kill Mr. Reed. In the climax, Paxton manages to escape from the basement area, and a butterfly comes and sits in her hands. Earlier in the movie Paxton says that she wants to be reincarnated as a butterfly after death and visit loved ones.
