Haiti Week 2010, December 6th-10th
The
Global Syndicate’s Haiti Project hosts “Haiti Week,” a series of
dynamic and festive events taking place every evening beginning Monday,
December 6, and lasting through the week.
All of the proceeds
from “Haiti Week” will go to one of The Global Syndicate’s
beneficiaries, Hollywood Unites for Haiti, to help the organization
complete building a school for the children of a small town called,
Cadet. “This will be an opportunity for New York City once again show
our continued support for the challenges currently facing Haiti and more
specifically, the kids of Cadet,” says Jacques-Philippe Piverger, one
of the chief organizers.
Confirmed attendees and supporters
include U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand from New York; Jeffrey Wright an
activist and actor whose credit includes Casino Royale, Quantum of
Solace, W, and A Free Man of Color; Mpule Kwelagobe, the media
personality, a spokesperson and Miss Universe, 1999; Gbenga Akinnagbe,
the actor, whose credits include The Wire, The Good Wife, and Nurse
Jackie.
Others are Randal Pinkett, winner of Donald
Trump’s Apprentice, and author, and founder of BCT Partners; Anthony
Anderson, an actor and comedian; Millen Magese, Miss Tanzania and a
super model; DJ Rich Medina; DJ Questlove, of The Roots; New York
Assemblyman Hakim Jeffries; New York Assemblyman Karim Camara; LEBO M, introducing REFI on her New York City debut performance of Circle of Life from the LION KING BROADWAY.
“We
will start the evening with a Belvedere sponsored drink special and for
those who have not yet been to Gild Hall it is a meticulously designed
intimate, small, venue which speaks to a sophisticated palette,”
organizers say in a statement.
Dinner and drink specials are
also available–the attire is business. Suggested contribution for all
events are $25, $50, $75, $100, $250, and other. Register
