Atlanta, GA (June 19, 2024) – Arian Simone, CEO and Founding Partner of the Fearless Fund and Founder of the Fearless Foundation, issued the following statement in celebration of Juneteenth, following the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit’s decision to uphold the injunction against the organizations.
“On Juneteenth, we reflect on the enduring strength of Black Americans and the journey toward true freedom and equity. Although this day commemorates a pivotal moment in our history, the recent decision to uphold the injunction against us is a stark reminder of the systemic barriers that continue to hinder our progress. This decision is not just a legal setback – it is a deeply personal blow to every woman of color who dares to dream of entrepreneurship and equal opportunity.
Despite this, I am reminded of the indomitable spirit of our ancestors who fought tirelessly for their freedom. For our freedom. Their courage fuels our resolve today. But while we have persevered through unimaginable hardships, we should not have to rely on our strength alone. We deserve equal opportunities and the encouragement to dream without limits. We deserve to exist in a society where our strength is celebrated, but our success is not contingent upon it. Just because the burden is heavy doesn’t mean it’s ours to carry alone.
Our fight for equity and opportunity is far from over, but together, we can create a future where every woman of color has the chance to thrive. The Fearless Fund and the Fearless Foundation remain unwavering in our commitment to support women of color-owned businesses. We will ensure that the promise of Juneteenth extends to all future generations, allowing every girl of color to grow up in an America that empowers her to realize her dreams.”
