Oakland, CA — Carbon capture and storage is receiving massive public funding and political support in the US where it is touted as a key path to reduce CO2 emissions.
As the COP27 gets underway, the Oakland Institute is hosting a virtual press conference about Summit Carbon Solutions’ plan to establish the largest carbon capture and storage project in the world.
A new report, The Great Carbon Boondoggle: Inside the Struggle to Stop Summit’s CO2 Pipeline, exposing the billion-dollar financial interests and high-level political ties driving the Midwest Carbon Express, will be released on November 8 by the Oakland Institute.
Researchers, Indigenous and community representatives will discuss the findings of the report and why they oppose the project. Copies of the report may be available to journalists on an embargoed basis prior to the call.
