Elden Ring: The Nightreign is a new game of interest by FromSoftware. While it is a spinoff of the wonderful match Elden Ring, it’s vastly different. In fact, this is an open-world game of teamwork and survival, not an open-world adventure.
Fans cannot wait for the game to come out and open soon. It also has a surprise Dark Souls crossover, another famous game from the same company. This will show players characters and enemies that inhabit both worlds.
Elden Ring Nightreign Release Date and Platforms
The game will be released on May 30th, 2025. On May 30, 2025, it will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X,|S Xbox One, and PC (Steam). This also helps players from different systems to play together.
And from February 14 to 17, 2025, there will be a network test before the release. This is something different as players can play this game early. The developers will use the test to find potential problems and to improve the game before launch. Only during certain times will players be able to play.

Gameplay and Co-op Mode
Nightreign is a co-op survival game, unlike Elden Ring, which is a single-player open-world game. It simply means that playing is a team effort, so players have to fight enemies together as well as finish challenges. Players need to venture into the land and fight various enemies and powerful bosses. No two games will be the same, as it changes every session.
Additionally, players will move and adapt very quickly as the map continues to shrink over time. It lends an exciting feel to the game being played too fast. My goal is to survive till the end and defeat the last boss called the Nightlord.The game can be played alone or with friends, but people have to choose to play together. It’ll be much harder for you to fight as they alone.
Character Classes and Combat
In Nightreign, players can choose from eight different characters. Each character has unique skills, weapons, and special moves. This is different from Elden Ring, where players could create their own builds.
So far, four characters have been revealed:
- Wylder – A strong fighter with balanced attack power and speed.
- Guardian – A heavy warrior with strong defense but slower movement.
- Duchess – A fast and agile fighter who can dodge attacks easily.
- Recluse – A powerful magic user who fights from a distance.
Players must work together to use their skills wisely. For example, a Guardian can block attacks, while a Recluse casts powerful spells from a distance. There is also new movement, such as jumping, vaulting,g, and gliding. Combats and explorations are faster and spicier, and at the end of each game session, players will have to try to defeat a powerful boss. Rewards and upgrades available for the next runs will be unlocked by beating these bosses.
Special Editions and Prices
Players can buy different versions of the game, depending on what extra content they want.
- Standard Edition ($40) – Includes the base game and a bonus gesture.
- Digital Deluxe Edition ($55) – Includes the base game, a digital artbook, a mini soundtrack, and extra DLC (downloadable content). This DLC will be released later in Q4 2025.
- Collector’s Edition ($200) – Includes everything from the Deluxe Edition, plus:
- A Steelbook case
- A Wylder Statue
- Nightmare Cards
- A hardcover artbook
- A Collector’s Box
There is also a Seekers Edition ($59.99), which will be available only in Europe. This version includes a Steelbook case.
These editions allow players to collect exclusive items and enjoy extra content.

Dark Souls Crossover
One of the most exciting parts of Nightreign is its connection to Dark Souls. This is the first time that FromSoftware has officially linked the two games together.
The game’s director, Junya Ishizaki, explained that Nightreign takes place in a parallel world. Because of a fracture, in reality, enemies and characters from Lordran (the world of Dark Souls) have entered the lands of Nightreign.
What This Means for Players:
- Dark Souls Enemies Appear – Players will fight familiar enemies from Dark Souls, making the game even more challenging.
- New Story Connections – The game may reveal more about the link between the Elden Ring and Dark Souls.
Classic Dark Souls Bosses – It will be a fun challenge to face classic Dark Souls Bosses in a new setting. Fans will have been wondering for years about the links between Dark Souls and Elden Ring. This crossover now confirms these games do take place in the same MP.
