The December 12th Movement released the following alert announcing a press conference for Monday, December 30th to address the beating death of Robert L. Brooks, on December 10, 2024, by New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) officers at the Marcy Correctional Facility in Marcy, Oneida County.
“As the Black community comes together to celebrate “Nia” (Purpose), on the fifth day of Kwanzaa, we are outraged, but not surprised, at the cold-blooded murder of Robert Brooks by NYS corrections officers (New York governor orders firing of 14 prison workers after fatal attack on inmate|New York| The Guardian).
“On Monday, December 30th at 11:am, the December 12th Movement, community leaders and elected officials are holding a press conference at the office of NYS Governor Kathy Hochul, 633 Third Avenue.”
