get together whenever they think its necessary,
They turn our brothers and sisters into mercenaries, they are turning the planet into a cemetery…”–Work For Peace by Gil Scott-Heron
Death Falls…From A Dark Bloody Sky: A Poem For Palestinians
Death falls furiously like rain from a dark bloody sky
Officially ignored, I hear their cry:
Mothers, fathers, sisters, old ladies, brothers, bending over burning bodies; lifeless babies; broken by airborne bricks; bombs launched by propaganda tricks
Bullets flying; blood flowing; by battle arms brought into region Armageddon. The fixation? Occupied land confiscation, depopulation by settler nation
Stories, and fables, about Zion. But who were the purple people of Sidon?
We, the world now watching witnessing a massacre, in Gaza, another Nakba, of the poor dispossessed more mass murder
Washington and the White House giving their blessing to ethnic cleansing as the religious Klansman sings
The world filled with for-profit trouble
Young futures buried deep piled up under graves of blasted rubble
In the industry of the news, raw truth gets misused abused.
We hear political talk about a “humanitarian pause.” But what about human rights laws?
An awful plight, people bullied fearing to speak what is right.
Against Genocide mustn’t we fight?
So some are censored, quieted into silence, as death fills cemeteries with stolen dreams
Crises continue
Oh mercy, mercy me
Lamentations for the disappeared not what it should be
Sufferers chanting: time to see, all ah we free…
