NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Tuesday, Congressman Jamaal Bowman endorsed community organizer and New Rochelle City Councilmember Yadira Ramos-Herbert to be the next Mayor of New Rochelle.
“Yadira Ramos-Herbert is a unifier—someone who will fight equally hard for the North End as she will for Residence Park and every neighborhood in between. She is also a fierce advocate for her constituents on the federal level—together, we’ve worked to bring a vaccine bus and other resources to New Rochelle,” said Congressman Jamaal Bowman, Ed.D. “I have seen the fire inside her that burns brightest when she is delivering for her constituents. That is why I am proud to support New Rochelle’s next mayor, Yadira Ramos-Herbert, and humbly call on all of my supporters to show up on June 27th to vote for her.”
As a City Councilmember, Yadira has fought for police reform, worked with Congressman Bowman to deliver a Covid-19 vaccine bus to close the vaccination disparity gap, and led an initiative to increase the number of youth applying for summer employment.

Congressman Jamaal Bowman was an educator and advocate for public schools for over 20 years and previously served as principal for the Cornerstone Academy for Social Action (CASA), a public middle school he founded in 2009 in the Baychester neighborhood of The Bronx. Rep. Bowman is a life-long New Yorker who lives in Yonkers with his wife and children.
