Washington, D.C. — Today, President Donald Trump will sign the One Big Beautiful Bill Act into law. Neera Tanden, CEO of the Center for American Progress Action Fund, released the following statement:
Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans have betrayed working-class Americans. They are increasing costs across the board, ripping away health care from millions of Americans, and killing millions of jobs. The costs of health insurance, food, utilities, and a home mortgage will go up, thanks to Donald Trump and people like Reps. David Valadao (R-CA) and Mike Lawler (R-NY), who voted for this bill. What do they accomplish by harming so many working people? Giving the top 1 percent $1 trillion in additional tax breaks.
Americans are right to be angry. Republicans in Washington have broken their campaign promises to lower costs, instead delivering preventable deaths, hospital closures, more hunger, and $3.4 trillion in more debt. By signing this bill, the president is harming his Republican majorities in Congress.
