The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned racist comments by Senator Lindsey Graham targeting Palestinians.

In an X post, Sen. Lindsey Graham said “the Palestinians in Gaza are the most radicalized population on the planet who are taught to hate Jews from birth. It will take years to fix this problem.” Graham also compared anti-genocide protestors to Nazis.”

In a statement, CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:

“We are deeply disgusted by Senator Graham’s racist, hateful and absurd comments targeting the Palestinian people, as well as his hypocritical criticism of anti-genocide activists in South Carolina.

“Contrary to Senator Graham’s claim that Palestinians in Gaza are radicalized people raised to hate Jews, anyone who has ever visited Gaza–including Jewish activists–report that the Palestinian people are incredibly warm and welcoming people despite the decades of injustice they have experienced.

“Contrary to Senator Graham’s claim that anti-war activists chanting ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’ are calling for genocide, it is the senator’s openly genocidal friends in the ruling Likud Party who use the phrase ‘from the river to the sea’ in their official party platform to mean Israeli domination across the entire Holy Land while American activists who use the phrase say they are calling for Israelis and Palestinians to live together in one state with equal rights.”

“Senator Graham should stop fomenting wars overseas and hatred here at home, starting in South Carolina.”
