BROOKLYN, NY (September 22, 2025) – Today, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso released the following statement on the upcoming Community Advisory Committee vote on The Coney:
“As a member of the Community Advisory Committee, it is my duty to represent the best interests of our borough and to ensure that any development affirms and enhances Coney Island as the historic and cultural icon that we all know and love.
“Over the course of months and months of engagement, The Coney has failed to prove itself as a public good. The proposal is deeply unimpressive and unresponsive to the needs, desires, and rich history of the Coney Island community. Quite simply, it will not improve conditions for the Brooklynites who call Coney Island home.
“For these reasons, I will be voting ‘no’ on The Coney.”
