Trump Administration’s Ken Cuccinelli, at DHS, is trying to weaken New York’s “Green Light Law” to further their racist immigration agenda.
Saturday, Bronx Borough President Ruden Diaz Jr. spoke out against the Trump Administration’s attempt to “bully” the state of New York into abandoning the “Green Light Law.”
Diaz released the following statement:
“The Trump Administration’s attempts to bully New York State into abandoning our values cannot go unanswered. Our state’s ‘green light law’ was the correct thing to do, and any attempt to get New York to reverse itself on providing driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants is nothing more than craven, hateful political pandering.
“From the beginning, President Trump set out to hurt members of our community simply because of how they look and how they worship. Now with the ‘Trusted Traveler Program’ ban, he is trying to hurt all New Yorkers. This is a senseless, vindictive policy that we must fight against, and I stand with Governor Cuomo in calling it what it is – an unlawful abuse of power.”
On Friday, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, and the New York Civil Liberties Union, announced that they will be filing lawsuits against the Department of Homeland Security.
The Trump Administration is trying to weaken provisions in New York’s “Green Light Law” that prevents New York’s DMV from sharing DMV information with immigration authorities.
