(Washington, D.C.)  – June 12, 2024 – The Black Innovation Alliance (BIA), a coalition dedicated to closing the racial wealth gap, will kick off Juneteenth (Wednesday, June 19th) with the new podcast “From Chains to Links: The Innovation Podcast.” The new podcast will go beyond traditional entrepreneurial topics to explore the intersection of culture, identity, and business, as well as examine the systemic barriers faced by Black entrepreneurs.

BIA CEO Dr. Kelly Burton and Ifeoma Ike, attorney, author and founder of Pink Cornrows, an award-winning public policy, communications, and social impact firm, will host and spotlight in each episode how Black people have innovated survival, joy, creativity, curiosity, collective economics, healing, and revolution. Guests and experts will share the stories of their own journeys to shed light on Black entrepreneurship in an authentic and honest way. Topics include Black innovators and visionaries, innovation and sustainability as a birthright and the new book “The Equity Mindset.”

 Dr. Andre M. Perry, policy expert, professor, and Senior Fellow at Brookings Institute, will kick off the first podcast episode with a discussion about the future of racial justice work. Take a sneak peek at Dr. Perry talking about entrepreneurship and the state of Black America here.

 Season one concludes with attorney and CNN commentator Bakari Sellers who discusses why progress costs Black people so much. See his clip here.

“This is not just about celebrating Juneteenth. It’s about shining a light on Black innovation and entrepreneurship the entire month and beyond,” said Dr. Kelly Burton, CEO of Black Innovation Alliance. “Our first season offers a provocative take on how we progress as a people, particularly during a time when key pillars of American society are dead set against us. Listeners will feel right at home from beginning to end, and exit each episode feeling a little more seen, a little more sane and a lot less alone.”

 New episodes will be available every Wednesday beginning June 19, 2024, on iTunes, Spotify and YouTube and feature a broad range of notable guests and experts including:

 Jeff Lindor, entrepreneur, and founder of The Gentlemen’s Factory; Aisha Al-Hurra and Terry Marshall, co-founders of creative studio, Intelligent Mischief; Dominique Drakeford, sustainability influencer, writer and environmental justice educator;

Richard Buery, Jr., CEO of Robin Hood Foundation and former NYC Deputy Mayor;

Latoya Peterson, digital entrepreneur, and co-founder of Glow Up Games.
