Black Community Forces Netflix Cancellation Of Good Times Reboot Cartoon

By James C. McIntosh

CEMOTAP FOUNDER Betty Dopson says that all over the internet is Netflix propaganda acknowledging that public pressure caused the cancellation of the vile, violent and racist cartoon series Good Times Black Again distributed by Netflix.

Dopson’s organization led a coalition of organizations including December 12th Movement, National Association of Kawaida Organizations, Black Panthers, UNIA-ACL, Clear the Airwaves Project, Operation Power, CEMOTAP WEST, Mackey History Club and many others that for over a year have  picketed everything associated with the series.

Says Dopson, “When our community remains silent about a  cartoon series that features a Black girl throwing menstrual blood in a Black boy’s face will be the day we have completely lost our minds.”

Dopson also stated that “Although numerous outlets have published stories  regarding Netflix’s capitulation, none have detailed the specifics of the horrible images projected by the series.”

Dopson said these images include a boy who is able to make himself smarter and stronger   by using street drugs, machine gun toting toddlers and teens shooting up the community, a black man calling a child the N word, and a sex scene with a man styled as an ape having sex with a Black woman.

“The fact that they think they can get away with an announcement without an apology and without detailing specifics on how they will repair the damage they have done shows the level of disrespect they have for our community,” said Dopson.

“We will continue to confront executive Producer of the series NBA star Steph Curry wherever he attempts to appear in the community,” Dopson said.

She also indicated that they would continue to encourage our people to have enough respect to cancel their subscriptions until Netflix apologizes to the Black Community and make up for the damage they have done.
