RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In 2019, Blacks accounted for 77% of homicide victims in Brazil, at a rate of 29.2 per 100,000 inhabitants.
Among non-Blacks, the rate stood at 11.2 per 100,000, meaning that a Black person’s risk of being murdered is 2.6 times higher than that of a non-Black person.
