The event will take place at the Legendary Apollo Theater on Sunday, August 18th at 12 PM, followed by an exciting Q&A session with Freeman and cast members.

The screening marks the culmination of Freeman’s year-long campaign for his documentary, which was created as a tribute to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop music. Hip-Hop, born on August 11, 1973, has profoundly influenced global culture for half a century.

After the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Freeman and notable cast members, including:

  • Emmy Award-winning poet, and rapper Caridad “La Bruja” De La Luz
  • Legendary Hip-Hop producer and DJ Callie Ban
  • Burgeoning Brooklyn drill rapper Pretty Dij

Adding to the significance of the event, the Hip-Hop Film Festival will be honoring female Hip-Hop icon MC Lyte with a lifetime achievement award on the same day.

For those unable to attend the festival, “Beats & Lyrics” is currently streaming on YouTube Movies & TV, Prime Video, and Tubi.

His next documentary project, “Diary of the Lost Boyz: The Spigg Nice Story,” is set to begin production this fall and is slated for release next year.
