Wednesday, debate among New York State Assembly members (including Charles Barron) reportedly result in a unanimous vote of 107 (YES) to 43 (NO) which successfully passed the historic Reparations Bill no. 2619-A.

The office of NYS Assembly Member Charles Barron (District 60), has confirmed that a Press Conference will be held Thursday, June 10, 2021 – 12 noon EST at the African Burial Ground National Monument at Duane Street. The sentiment in the African-American community is that this Reparations Bill must be fast-tracked for signature by Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2021.

While car honking and shouts of celebrations could be heard after the NYS Assembly affirmed the outcome of the vote, attention quickly turned to witnessing the level of energy that the New York State Senate’s Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins will provide to ensure that the Senate also votes to pass the Reparations Bill.
