ArtWorks.™ is set to relaunch its ABA approved, Legal Incubator & Residency Program. This program is designed to propel attorneys into the fascinating practice area of intellectual property law, in order to protect and serve creative businesses. The company was founded by attorneys specializing in business law and communications with the mission to aid attorneys in their pursuit to safeguard the intellectual property of entrepreneurs.
America’s economy thrives on the creation of businesses, which makes it essential to have adequate legal support when protecting their intellectual property. During Covid, “more than 4.4 million new businesses were created in the U.S. during 2020 — the highest total on record,” according to the Census Bureau. This influx of creative entrepreneurs has caused an increase in demand for attorneys in the intellectual property practice area. The White House proclamation on World Intellectual Property Day in 2021 explained, “Investing in and strengthening our digital infrastructure promotes innovation that helps small businesses and protects the rights of our citizens.” As of May 2023, the U.S. Census reported 436,048 newly established businesses in the United States.
This surge of entrepreneurs has increased the demand for trained lawyers to protect the business interests of businesses that are being registered. According to the American Bar Association, a total of 36,078 law students graduated in 2022. Let’s do the math, in analyzing the numbers, there are simply not enough trained lawyers to help the amount of growing businesses. The NYC Bar Association highlighted that, “new lawyer preparation does not end on graduation day. Curriculum based continuing legal education programs and mentoring are essential to help new lawyers transition successfully to practice.”
In response, ArtWorks.™ has implemented its newest and quickest residency program available. Specifically developed for attorneys looking to break into arts, fashion, and entertainment law. The goal of the ArtWorks.™ Legal Incubator and Residency program is to work with new and transitioning attorneys with an interest in entertainment law and protecting the intellectual property of creatives.
The Residency Program is an accelerated 12-week tri-module program that focuses on personalized mentorship and guidance in both professional and personal aspects. This program serves as the vital connection between academia and real-world practice, ensuring a smooth transition towards success.
Qualified applicants will gain access to seasoned and committed mentors who will share their extensive experiences, receive dynamic professional business development, and engage in case simulations that enhance your expertise in copyright, trademark, and patents. have immersive hands-on opportunities working with real creative clients who are in need of your skills.
“This program is creating job security in the face of severe upheaval in the economic space. It’s not only helping attorneys with future income security, it is also protecting the rights of creatives across the country and around the world. This is my personal invitation to all those ambitious, courageous lawyers ready to help write the next chapter in legal history,” said Nzengha Waseme, program director. “In a time when so much is unstable, this residency program is a new, innovative path to success, Waseme adds”
