African Athletes Rock

These winnings should be celebrated by all Africans around the world. At a time when international media focuses mostly on bad news and ignores positive events in Africa, it is this kind of news that everyone should hear. Africa has a lot of positive events and news going on. However, Western media prefer to focus on bad news to perpetually portray Africa as a hopeless place. This is why we should be proud to see that once in a while Africa is presented in the media in the positive way that it deserves.

Those Were The Days: Doc has high praises for Jeter

Jeter is the greatest shortstop in the history of the Yankees. Baseball’s greatest team. And he is one of the greatest shortstops to ever don a baseball uniform. Not to mention a guy who always comes through in the clutch. Jeter is an everyday living All star in the game of life and baseball…

Not Yet Great Taylor

Heck, had Hopkins put the pressure on sooner he would have pulled
out the darn fight. In the early going he simply gave away rounds looking for a one punch knockout. Hopkins isn’t Ray Robinson or Tommie Hearns. Then again it seemed Taylor was never the same after he got the cut above his head. He was more defensive and less aggressive after the second clash of heads

We Did It Again!

What made the victory ever more remarkable is that Williams was seeded 14th entering the tournament and she achieved another record by being the lowest-seeded victor to date. Moreover, at one point in the second set she stared down the barrel of defeat when Davenport was serving for the match. Not only did Williams break Davenport’s serve in straight points, she went on to win three of the first point in the tiebreaker, eventually forcing a third set. She proved to herself and to the world, that she has a lion’s heart.

Eagles: McNabb Versus T.O.

T.O alleges that other Eagles see Donovan as a company man willing to front for the organization. Duh! McNabb has a $100-plus million contract. For that amount money, if my boss asked me to shine his shoes, I’d do so gladly, and offer to iron his shirt and dust his office, too. The silly accusations being circulated suggest that Donovan is a modern-day house Negro who has no problem enriching himself at the expense of the rest of the brothers

Football With Real Kicks

The Riverdale Soccer club celebrated the birthday of their assistant coach, Pat Murphy, this past Sunday, and the game could not have been a better birthday gift in my opinion. Both teams played with great heart and bravado. I was invited to observe what turned out to be an exciting classic soccer match between Daly’s ‘Kelly’s Heroes’ and the ‘Manhattan Metro Stars’ at Van Cortland Park located in the West Bronx.

King Judah’s Reign

Judah asked promoter Don King for a second chance. One more shot at Cory Spinks. "Not only will I win," said Zab, " I’m going to knock him out." In front of a capacity crowd of 22,370, a record for an indoor boxing match, Judah delivered. A left to the face of Cory Spinks sent him into a tailspin. Juda seized the WBC/WBA/IBF belts with a 9th round stoppage. Judah, king of the Welterweights, brings all the titles back home to Brooklyn, New York.

Rise & Kendall Gill As Pugilist

Here is something else you didn’t know, Kendall Gill, NBA superstar, is embarking upon a three fight boxing career. The classy Gill (one of sports best dressed and intelligent athletes) called me early two Mondays ago. He was giving me an exclusive. Gill said he has always loved the "Sweet Science."

Jets Lose; Reggie RIP

My deepest Sympathy to the family of Reggie White from all our staff
here. Reggie was a champion in life as well as on the football field. He
was also a devout Christian. One of my greatest compliments came from the late, great lens man Carl Nesfield, who mentioned me in the same vein with White.
