The President and all of us in the meeting agreed that the best hope for improving the unemployment picture in our communities lies with current Congressional efforts to pass a Jobs Bill which should be the first order of business when the Senate returns from its recess next week.

"The stimulus is one of the very few bright spots the construction industry experienced last year and is one of the few hopes keeping it going in 2010," said Ken Simonson, the association’s chief economist.

Here in New York, a line of thought is that turning off the lights on the Indian Point Energy Center, whose licenses expire in 2013 and 2015, can be replaced by renewable sources like wind, solar and hydro-power.
