Are Trumpian Republicans And MAGA Using Charlie Kirk’s Killing To Incite Domestic War?

Do far-right conservatives have itchy trigger-fingers to use Charlie Kirk’s killing to start a new bloody domestic civil war?

Even before Kirk’s apparent killer, Tyler Robinson, was turned into police by his father and pastor, Trump and Republicans were irresponsibly blaming Democrats for Kirk’s murder. And now, even though a different picture of Tyler Robinson, as a possible white nationalist Groyper, is coming into view, the false initial accusations of Republicans have already done damage to the perceptions of many Americans.

This should now be evident to every resident in America: the specter of rightwing violence—and murder—will now be increased because of the Republican response to Kirk’s murder.

Trumpian Republicans have been totally partisan in their comments on Kirk’s killing.

In the immediate aftermath of the murder, Republicans were quick to place culpability upon Democrats. The truth is despite their showboating theatrics these Republicans politicians don’t really give a damn for Charlie Kirk the person, or for his now grieving family. What they care about is using him as an invented martyr for their political agenda.

While no one should be killed for their racist xenophobic views, they should not be venerated either because they were assassinated.

Some are now trying to whitewash Kirk’s horribly despicable statements where he attacked numerous minority groups, including Black people. Let’s look at a few of Kirk’s contemptible comments about Black people. These are all from his Charlie Kirk show.

On May 19, 2023, Kirk said, “Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more.” Of course, this is a lie, not a fact. It is a racist myth.

On Jan. 3, 2024, Kirk said, “If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?” Many Black Americans can write books about all the moronic white people they have encountered, who get jobs just because they have white skin.

On Jan. 23, 2024, Kirk said, “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, boy, I hope he’s qualified.” Only a profound racist could really believe that an unqualified Black person would be allowed to fly planes in white America.

And, on July 13, 2023, Kirk made this comment “If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.”

Keep in mind, we get this “brain processing power” statement from a privilege white male college dropout—whose ancestors stole Black labor to build America. The only thing Kirk is correct about here is saying that some of us will call his comments what they are: racist.

Ironically, Washington Post opinion writer, Karen Attiah, a Black woman, was just fired for posting some of Kirk’s own odious beliefs and exposing the hypocrisy of white men like him.

But while the First Amendment rights of writers, like Attiah, and analyst Matthew Dowd, are being trampled on, rightwing conservatives are being allowed to insinuate and incite violence against the fictional “radical left.”

A few examples.

Fox New host Jesse Watters, during a broadcast immediately after the shooting, said, “Think about it… it’s happening. You’ve got trans shooters, you’ve got riots in L.A. They are at war with us, whether we want to accept it or, they are at war with us. And what are we going to do about it?”

Former Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon, on his show War Room, like Watters, also used the word “war”, saying, “We have to have steely resolve. Charlie Kirk is a casualty of war. We are at war in this country. We are.”

Rightwing America is indeed at war with those, in America, who don’t share their warped worldview. And, unlike leftists, rightwingers are the ones, the data tells us this, that are most likely to resort to political violence. Read here, here and here.

The idea that people on the far-left are routinely violent is laughable—they are more likely to be peaceniks, who would never buy a gun, unlike the Second Amendment absolutist nuts on the far-right, who fantasize about a new civil war, including a race war against Black America. Ask yourself this question: why, even before Tyler Robinson was arrested, were Black colleges facing bomb threats?

Unfortunately, Charlie Kirk’s murder is likely a prelude to a new deadly destructive period of political violence in America.
