BRONX, NY – Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14) will join New York State Assembly Member Zohran K. Mamdani (AD-36) and Senator Jabari Brisport (SD-25), sponsors of the “Not On Our Dime!” state bill, for an announcement regarding the re-launch and expansion of the bill. The first-in-the-nation legislation would make it illegal for New York state-registered charities to fund violations of international law in Israel.
The bill responds to a well-documented phenomenon of US-based, and particularly NYS-registered front groups funding illegal Israeli settlementsthat receive tax breaks from New York State. Currently, over $60 million goes from charities registered in New York to violent Israeli settler organizations every year.
