The twenty-second season of the American Idol show was launched on 18th February. Katy Perry and Lionel Richie are the judges of the show. The top 10 finalists are finalised on Monday 22nd April. Leaving behind 2 contestants out of 12. The top 12 contestants were asked to perform on songs that were Billboard Number 1 hits over the year. The American Idol show is telecast live on the ABC channel. The show is streamed online on Hubble.
Contestants who are top 10 American Idols
Competing for each other over the last two months, out of all the contestants who participated in American Idols, these ten contestants made it to the list of the top 10 American Idols. They are arranged in order of their ranking by the judges-
1. McKenna Faith Breinholt
She was born on the 19th of August, in Meza, Arizona. She used to listen to songs on television and play the melody of the songs on her little keyboard. As her interest grew in music her parents bought her a big keyboard. Her first song played on the big keyboard was ‘Apologise’ by Timbaland and OneRepublic. She admires David Cook and David Archuleta.
After a span, she started taking guitar classes and her guitar teacher guided her to sing while playing guitar. At the age of 14, she performed in churches and school functions.
She remembers her best performance as a teenager when she performed in her school talent show. Her video was circulated everywhere and then a musician from Arizona contacted her and asked her to perform along with him. He used to recreate old songs with orchestra and choir. One of her videos with him got more than 12 million views on YouTube.
She aims to launch her song after the show. Though it is not an easy task, she has a goal to do that. She wants to sing for millions of people.
2. Jack Blocker
Jack Blocker belongs to Dallas, Texas. He was born on June 8, 1998. He is a self-taught guitarist, coming from a non-musical background. He was 4 years old when he first watched the American Idol show. As a child first memory he has of music is of a church. He has fallen in love with music when he listened to an old artist in his school. When he was 16 he started learning guitar and started singing. That’s when he got to know he can sing. He wrote his first finally Home along with the band. In Dallas music was not very common. With his wife’s support, she pushed Hilton to excel in music. Taylor Swift, Adele and Billie Eilish are his main influences.
3. Mia Mathews
Mia Mathews was born on 7 December in Gadsden, Ala. She belongs to a musical family. Her father is a guitarist. Her mom is a singer too. She sang songs with Ernest Tubb and Barbara Mandrell. Her childhood was spent watching American Idol they also had American Idol Karaoke at home. Mathew’s father passed away when she was three but she was always surrounded by music. Her mother used to give vocal lessons. Mathews, her mother and sister used to perform in churches. Both sisters showcased their talent on Broadway at Ole Red. When she felt stagnant Mathews and her sister Jacy both tried for auditions for American Idol and she got selected. Jacy was eliminated during Hollywood Week. Mia continued in the competition and is now a part of the Top 10 American Idols.
4. Sam Kayko
Sam Kayko was born on June 14 2000, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. His parents sent him to learn piano when he was three years old. By the age of ten, he was in love with music. He appeared in musicals like Side Show, in the Heights, Ghost and 9 to 5. Kayko took the help of YouTube to create his music. His audition story is different from others. American Idol called his friend Abby for the audition but he joined her to support her. When the judges heard Kayko’s voice they decided to take him too in the competition. He admires Chris Daughtry and James Durbin.
Katy Peerie was impressed by his singing and offered him to go to Hollywood Week with his friend Abby. His friend was eliminated in Hollywood Week and he continued to be a part of the competition. Destiny took him to the Top 10 American Idol list.

5. Will Moseley
Will Moseley was born on 10 July 2000 in Douglas, Georgia. Moseley has some beautiful memories of music. All family members are in love with music. He had a memory of watching American Idol. A fifteen-year-old Moseley asked for a guitar as a gift for Christmas. His mother gifted him, but when he started learning his fingers started hurting within two days he put the guitar back in the closet. He graduated from college in biology. One fine day when he was in college he took out guitar and started learning. During Covid days he earned by singing and playing guitar. In future, he would love to sing and play guitar for the people.
6. Abi Carter
Abi Carter was born on 31st July 2002. She belongs to Indio, Calif. Her earliest memory of music as a child was of an intro credit song of Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princess. She was in love with this song. She comes from a family of singers. Her Mother also wanted to pursue music but couldn’t do it due to her responsibilities. But Abi is the only one who pursued music as her career. When she was 8, she watched the American Idol auditions. When she looked at Carrie Underwood in the show Carter wanted to join American Idol at the tender age of 8. She has admired Carrie Underwood since her childhood. In future, she wants to be an artist with whom people connect.
7. Kaibrenne Richins
Kaibrenne Richins was born on 22 May 2003 in Ogen, Utah. She belongs to a small town with no musical background. But her musical influence was her sisters, they used to sing and listen to Katy Perry hits. She was good at sports, and when she heard a YouTuber singing Hallelujah, she wanted to perform in school. She started singing in school talent shows, her father tried a lot to find opportunities for her to sing. She has anxiety issues, but her father supported her and recorded her TikTok videos, she got a good following on TikTok that’s when her music journey started. She admires Katy Perry and Carrie Underwood.
8. Emmy Rusell
Emmy Russell was born on 10 January 1999 in Nashville, Tenn. Her first memory of music was when she was two when she sang ABC and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with the piano player. From a very young age, she wrote stories and started playing the guitar along with them.
Russell’s grandmother had a big impact on her music journey. She used to perform when her husband left her. They performed on the road. Grandmother gave her guitar to Russell at the age of 15. By the age of 18, she stopped performing on the road. She has some plans, she wants to travel to different countries and help the needy through music.
9. Julia Gagnon
Julia Gagnon was born on 29th March 2002 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She admires Michael Jackson and Jennifer Hudson. She remembers her house has a big piano and as a two-year-old, she used to play with the keys of the Piano. So, then her parents bought a small piano for her. Television has never been a part of her life since childhood, so she never watched the American Idol. She watched the complete season 21 on Hulu with her fiance for the first time. Because she was preparing for a local Idol competition. Gagon has plans to dedicate her future to a music career.
10. Triston Harper
Triston Harper was born on 17th June 2008 in Mobile, Alabama. His first memory of music is when his mother taught him to play the nursery rhyme Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the piano. At the tender age 0of 6. He sang in church with his grandfather in the homecoming ceremony. As a child, he is fond of watching the American idol show, he loves the audition part. Growing up his interest in music was reduced, and rarely he played the guitar. But one fine day his grandfather while watching the show motivated him to go for auditions. He admires Johnny Cash and Charles Johnson. He has amazing plans and dreams of building a family and performing for people.
