American Horror Story Season 12 Ending Explained
Anna’s Pregnancy Comes To An End With The Death Of Dex
Anna Alcott, at the end of the season, finally gave birth. However, her baby turned out as some kind of a demonic entity whose final form was never revealed. After birth, Anna’s baby bit Dex’s hand off while Ivy choked him to death. The demonic baby later turned into how you would imagine a normal infant. Its face was never revealed in the finale even when the baby drank Anna’s blood to sustain. Siobhan referred to Anna’s demonic baby as a “creature.” After Siobhan’s end, the baby turned normal.

Why Did Ivy Die At The Hands Of Siobhan?
American Horror Story Season 12 ended with the revelation that Kim Kardashian’s Siobhan was the main villain all this while. Siobhan was actually the leader of the all-female cult and the mother of her half-human son Dex. Dex was born via a tryst with his amoral father. Ivy later died at the hands of Siobhan because she choked Dex to death. Her protests about Siobhan ordering her to kill Dex herself fell futile. The ageless leader claimed it was just a test and then slit Ivy’s throat.
Siobhan’s Aim To Create A Matriarchy
It was made pretty clear till the climax of the season that most of the villains were working for the cult. However, the motive behind their actions remained under wraps till the very end. In the Season 12 finale, Siobhan finally revealed the motive to Anna. She explained how the cult’s members target women like her who want it all and take advantage of them, using them to breed demonic male offspring. These demonic men are then used to bring an apocalypse. The main aim of the cult was to establish a utopian matriarchy.
Adeline Came For Rescue
Siobhan successfully tricked Anna on every point of the show until it was time to reveal the face of the demonic creature. Anna agreed to feed the baby and join the cult. The viewers then got to see a pretty disturbing scene where the baby started drinking Anna’s blood instead of her milk. This horrified Anna and delighted Siobhan. We then see Siobhan inexplicably leaving Anna alone. In a flashback to the seventh episode, we see Dex’s late wife Adeline’s spirit coming to Anna’s rescue. She instructed Anna to chant a prayer to the ancient Greek god of home and hospitality named Hestia. This helped Anna significantly.

Siobhan’s End
Siobhan met her end thanks to Anna’s chants of prayers to the God Hestia. When she returned with more “B12 shots” for Anna, the presence of Adeline’s spirit horrified her. Siobhan, thanks to the chants, crumbled into dust leading to her end. It was not revealed exactly how praying to Hestia led to Siobhan’s end. But, Anna soon found herself free to leave the cult unharmed. However, the Season ends with a rather strange twist when Anna is seen walking into a sunny nursery at the end.
The Strange And Confusing End
At the end of the season finale, Anna is seen walking into a sunny nursery where she picks up her baby and then her Oscar from the shelf. She’s then seen trying on Siobhan’s headpiece that was left behind after she turned into dust. The final frame made the overall theme of pregnancy, misogyny, ambitions, and feminism. Siobhan lured women like Anna who wanted it all and tried to establish a matriarchy. Anna, in the end, did have it all through her prayers to Hestia, the Greek God of home and family. However, in the end, Anna does have it all, and her trying out Siobhan’s headpiece hinted she might think about becoming the new leader of the cult. The ending did not leave the viewers with a clear message, making it a major letdown.
