CNN has reported that the General Services Administrator, Emily W. Murphy, has written to President-elect Joseph Biden recognizing his election victory and agreeing to commence the transition process. CNN reports that the Trump administration has also been notified of this development and the letter by Ms. Murphy was copied to the White House counsel.
The news comes after Michigan today officially certified Biden’s victory following in the heels of Georgia’s certification of the President-elect’s victory there. Meanwhile President Trump has so far lost more than 30 legal filings in his desperate attempt to derail the transition.
Trump may have been caught off guard and he reacted with two double-speak tweets after the CNN report on Ms. Murphy’s letter, but between the lines he’s basically accepting an end to his presidency.
“I want to thank Emily Murphy at GSA for her steadfast dedication and loyalty to our Country. She has been harassed, threatened, and abused – and I do not want to see this happen to her, her family, or employees of GSA. Our case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the good…..fight, and I believe we will prevail! Nevertheless, in the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same,”
Trump tweeted, trying to imply that he was concerned about Mr. Murphy’s safety, and that he had something to do with the decision to put the transition into gear.
It’s quite likely that the delusional out-going president realized his fantasy trip was all over after the embarrassing performance by his lawyer Rudy Giuliani last week. With his hair dye running into his cheeks, Trump’s legal team, headed by Giuliani, claimed the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and “communists” played a role in “stealing” the election from Trump.
