An Oregon community group is calling for change to address racism after the fatal shooting of a Black teenager by a white man in an incident that police said began as an argument over loud music.
Aidan Ellison, 19, was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the chest early Nov. 23 after officers responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of a hotel, according to police in Ashland, a predominantly white community near the state’s California border.
Robert Paul Keegan, 47, was arrested on a murder charge, though he said he was in fear for his physical safety, according to the probable-cause affidavit for Keegan’s arrest obtained by USA TODAY. His claim is disputed by the arresting officer in his report.

Editor’s Note: Mr. Keegan has now plead not guilty to the charges of murdering Aidan Ellison. It should be pointed out that Keegan left his hotel room to confront–and shoot to death this Black teen–because he was supposedly playing loud music.
Lets be clear here: this is yet another example racial murder. Are Black teens the only ones who play loud music?
This case is sadly similar to that of Jordan Davis, 17, (the murdered son of Georgia Congresswoman Lucy McBath) who was gunned down for loud music in Jacksonville, Florida on Nov. 23, 2012—murdered, ironically, eight years to the day before Ellison, by another racist murderer: Michael Dunn.
