NATIONWIDE – On Tuesday, March 4, AFT President Randi Weingarten will join educators, students and activists at a press conference to kick off more than 150 “Protect Our Kids” Day of Action events around the country to fight back against Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s cruel cuts to public schools.

Community allies are coming together in unprecedented numbers from Albany, NY, to Sacramento, CA, to sound the alarm on Trump and Musk’s devastating attack on Department of Education services that will slash opportunities for low-income children, kids with disabilities and first-generation college students. Participants will rally to support our public schools so all kids are engaged and can thrive.
The Trump assault would have disastrous consequences for 26 million students living in poverty who count on Title I programs that support literacy and math skills. It would remove critical support from 7.5 million kids through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), stripping them of their right to a fair and equal education.
Eviscerating career and technical education for 12 million students threatens those seeking good middle class jobs straight out of high school, while diminishing Pell Grants and student loans will make college unaffordable for 10 million working-class families.
