Vivica Fox, the sassy, witty, outspoken actress turned producer/author made a one-time appearance at the Black Spectrum Theater in Queens on Saturday. Fox, who is known for her lifetime achievements in film, television, and, yes, even dance, took center stage with longtime friend, singer/performer Bowlegged Lou from Full Force to give a packed audience insight on surviving in today’s entertainment industry.

Fox, whose lengthy resume in Hollywood includes such projects as popular soap operas, Generations and The Young and the Restless, the hit TV show, Out All Night, opposite singer Patti LaBelle, and films such as the Will Smith blockbuster, Independence Day, and her critically acclaimed role in the 1997 film Soul Food, which netted her both an MTV Movie Award and NAACP Image Award nomination.

Fox has since continued to stay busy in film and television and shares—in her book—the key to her driven success. Not just in Hollywood, but in life.

Written from a personal perspective, Fox takes her readers into her deepest hurdles and endeavors from her time as a child growing up in South Bend, Indiana to her gutsy move to California where she first embarked on her journey and lessons toward acting.

During the stage one-on-one with Bowlegged Lou, Fox told audiences, “I was getting movie roles after movie role at one point. I was feeling myself. You never think about your longevity in this business.”

Fox went on to tell the crowd and fans at the theater how she has matured and learned so much about the business as well as her personal life.

“The main reason I decided to do my book, “Every Day I’m Hustling”, is I understand how hard it is to achieve success and maintain longevity in this business.  I also hope to enlighten, encourage and inspire others through my motivational memoir. Especially in these dire times of Trump.”
