Businesswoman, filmmaker and activist Nia Miranda went viral over the summer for boldly stopping two fake Black Lives Matter assailants from vandalism during the peak of the #JusticeForGeorgeFlloyd protests when news outlets were heavily focused on the looting and less on the message behind the peaceful protests.

Nia has since become a voice and paragon in the community advocating against injustices and inspiring others to speak out.

With just one conversation caught on video during the apex of the BLM protests, Nia’s video influenced the way media and people separated BLM protestors and those committing crime during the protests from one another. Nia witnessed two women, who appeared to be white, vandalizing a Starbucks located at The Grove Outdoor Shopping Mall in Los Angeles and confronted them. Exposing vandals abusing a critical and sensitive time after the murder of George Floyd in order to commit crimes,

Nia proclaims, “It is never okay to commit a crime in our honor.” From her undeniable personality to her many gifts as an “ARTivist”, Nia has long used her voice as a right of freedom to break barriers and complete her ancestor’s agenda.

Once such important cause is the production company she founded, Bringing Love Back.

Bringing Love Back is a production company that creates films and unique community events and experiences to promote togetherness in the Black community by focusing on projects that will heal the past, change the present, and build the future.

The company’s mission is to push the culture forward by intentionally planting as many wisdom seeds as possible and helping to flourish a world of dream chasers, purpose pushers and fear fighters. They believe that if Black and Brown communities create peace and love within themselves, they will be able to empower the world.

Nia is currently working on some incredible short films and series to bring attention to topics including racism, normalizing marijuana, and more.

Raised in Detroit, MI, with Igbo Nigerian roots, Nia knew from a young age she wanted to pursue a career in entertainment. At just 3 years old, Nia began signing with her grandmother at a local senior citizens center and at 5 years performed in her first play.

With a strong connection to community and Black culture, from the ages of 6-10 Nia participated in the “Excel to Do Well” organization which allotted her trips to Washington DC to meet with then President Clinton. Nia would go on to form a girl group called “Harmony” which fueled her love of music and her drive to succeed in the industry.

After a bad record deal and the group disbanding, Nia looked to the future and began attending Michigan State University as a pre-med student. After 2 years of school, Nia couldn’t resist the call to continue to pursue the arts and left MSU.

In her early 20s’ Nia got into a severe car accident with a snowplow that knocked her car over a fire hydrant. During the accident, Nia encountered her first form of racism when the people who hit her and the emergency team that was dispatched refused her calls for help. Following the accident as a part of her recovery, Nia was introduced to medical marijuana as a form of healing. This personal discovery sparked her and her husband to start their own medical marijuana business.

When Nia is not busy acting, writing, and building her empire, she can be found spending time with her husband and family. Nia’s long-term goals are to create more inclusive films, television series, and entertainment content that inspire growth, education, and to build bridges between Africa and African-Americans.
