Girls Scouts cookies are going to retire this year. In a news release on Tuesday, USA  announced that this will be the last year of two Girls Scout cookie varieties. This week is also the last week of the annual cookie season of the scouting organization. The Girl Scouts of the USA announced that two of their classic cookie flavors are going to end in 2025. Moreover, the fans of  S’mores and Toast – Yay cookies need to place their orders before April to get the sweet treats in hand. They can order cookies from Girls Scout’s individual digital cookie online sales page or Girl Scouts cookies stand. Furthermore, GSUSA’s spokesperson said that they are innovating new products and reevaluating the old ones is necessary. However, in a statement to “Good Morning America,” he also stated that something more delicious is coming on the way.

Girls Scouts are one of the most loved organizations for cookies. Girl Scouts are going to retire their two cookies. Furthermore, the spokesperson for the girl’s scout group announced this news on Tuesday. Their two most loved cookies: Girls Scouts S’mores and Toast-yay will say goodbye to the cookie world. However, the organization does not give the exact reason for this sudden decision. But they have talked about some innovations in the cookie world.

Baking of Girl Scout cookies 

Little Brownie Bakers or ABC Bakers bakes Girl Scout cookies, which are loved by everyone. However, they also serve other items such as Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, Caramel Delites, Samoas, and Tagalongs. Meanwhile, some of the top five cookies are Thin Mints, Peanut Butter patties/Tagalongs, Caramel DeLights/ Samoas, Peanut Butter Sandwich/Do-Si-Dos, and Adventurefuls. In addition to selling cookies, the Girl Scouts’s team also learns life lessons, different skills, confidence, and character building. Moreover, they also develop various entrepreneurial skills like Business ethics, goal setting, money-making as well as Management and dealing with different types of people. Furthermore, Girl Scouts also raise funds for various activities, trips, camps, and service projects.

History of Girl Scouts Cookies

Girls Scouts cookies introduced S’mores in 2017. However, in 2021, the Girls Scouts group introduced French Toast Inspired Toast-Yay in the market. However, The Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) did not reveal the exact reason for the retirement of these cookies. The council members set the price of cookies after looking at several factors. However, the counseling members were also blacklisted because of the rising prices of the cookies. Eventually, in an interview with CNN, a GSUSA spokesperson said that prices were the same in some areas for a number of years. 

Girls members baked the first Girl Scouts cookies. However, It was home baking and moms were guiding them. The money from the first sales was funded for troop activities in 1917. Furthermore, in the United States girls Scouts stabilized five years later after that. In addition to that, Girls Scouts also contribute to women’s empowerment, in building their community, in their leadership journey, and in entrepreneurship. 

Rising prices of Girl Scout Cookies 

In 2023, the Girl Scouts organization hiked the price of cookies to $6. Their spokesperson said that the material cost is the main reason for the increment in prices. Further, he added that the material cost of the cookies is getting higher along with the products in cost. However in 2015 also the organisation increased the price of cookies from $4 to $5 per box. There are speculations that this year also the prices of Girls Scout cookies are going to be higher. 

However, the average price of cookies is between $4 to $7. Some special products like gluten-free cookies, carry a higher price rate. The spokesperson said that the price of these cookies is high because of their higher production cost. Furthermore, other cookies like Thin Mints, Tagalongs, and Samoas are going to be sold at the booths. The cookies will be available online from 21 February to April. Moreover, People can make their orders on the online platform of GSUSA. 

Girls Scouts Membership Prices are Getting Higher. 

Girls Scouts is a 112-year-old organization. However, the members of financially distressed organizations have voted to raise the price of membership. They want to raise the price by 160%. Moreover, for the 2026 membership year, the National Council also voted to hike the prices by $45. And for the 2027 membership year, they made the proposal of hiking the price to $65. The actual proposed proposal was $85 and all these are smaller amounts. 

Girl Scouts Revenue

The largest source of revenue for Girl Scouts is membership dues. In 2023 girls Scouts almost generated $38 million from two million members. However, now this organization is facing losses and operating issues. As a result of that, In 2024, Girl Scouts faced a loss of $5.6 millions.
