NYT Connections Hints And Answers 11 Dec 2024, Game#549: Every day, the New York Times has a fun and challenging puzzle called Connections. I love playing it! It’s all about finding groups of words that share a common theme. On December 11, 2024, the puzzle number was 549. I found it exciting to see how different words could connect in surprising ways.
Nyt Connections Words
In today’s puzzle, 16 words were available to utilize. Some of them were really quite familiar, while others, however, were not at all easy. The words for today were Hairspray, Rosebud, Pokemon, Primate, Xanadu, Jazzercise, Ketchum, Snowglobe, Paralympics, Paypal, Paradise, Wikipedia, Seventh Heaven, Salad Dressing, Magic 8 Ball, and Shangri-La. It is difficult to think how all those words could fit together.

Nyt Connections Hints
The first task was to recognize the categories. There were four groups to find. I like how every group has its own degree of difficulty. The easiest group was yellow marked, and it was all about places that represent perfection or happiness. The words in this category were Paradise, Seventh Heaven, Shangri-La, and Xanadu. It felt good to connect these words as they all describe ideal locations.
Things You Shake
The green category was next, which was all about things you shake before using. This one was a blast! The words were Hairspray, Magic 8 Ball, Salad Dressing, and Snowglobe. I laughed to myself thinking about how I always shake my salad dressing before pouring it on my food. It’s amazing how mundane actions can connect to a puzzle!
Proper Noun Portmanteaux
The blue category was a bit more difficult. This category consists of proper nouns that are really two words combined into one, called portmanteaux. The words here were Jazzercise, Paralympics, Pokémon, and Wikipedia. I had to think really hard about the origins of each word, especially Pokémon, which combines “Pocket” and “Monsters.” Learning these connections made me feel clever!
Conclusion:
Finally, there was the most difficult category, which we marked in purple. This lot included words ending with synonyms for the word “friend.” In this case, the four words were Ketchum, Paypal, Primate, and Rosebud. This took me a little longer since the connections weren’t straightforward at first. I had to really think about the meanings as well as the sounds of these words.
This was a fun challenge.
Solving the Connections puzzle is always a wonderful way to spend some time. Every day brings new words and new challenges that keep my mind sharp. I love how it encourages me to think outside the box and make connections hints that I might not notice otherwise. If you haven’t experienced it yet, I strongly suggest you give it a try! It’s a great way to learn new things while having fun at the same time. Who knows what connections you will discover next?
