BALTIMORE – Tuesday, U.S. Congressman Kweisi Mfume (D-MD-07) issued the following statement regarding the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsing after being struck by a large container ship leaving the Port of Baltimore.
Both the Francis Scott Key Bridge and the Port of Baltimore are in Congressman Mfume’s Congressional District, Maryland’s 7th Congressional District.
“The Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse is an unthinkable horror. We are all trying to respond accordingly. I’ve spoken directly with Secretary Buttigieg and the White House. They are responding with all of the assets at their disposal. Our prayers right now are for the missing individuals and victims of this tragedy. We thank God for the effective service of our first responders,” said Congressman Kweisi Mfume.
