McGhee, an inmate at Shelby County Jail, was found unresponsive on Jan. 10 and taken to the hospital, where he later died on Jan. 12. Family members reported that when he arrived at the hospital, McGhee was covered in a massive amount of lice and bed bugs.

A recently released preliminary autopsy report states that McGhee was suffering from numerous ailments due to severe neglect, including extensive and severe body insect infestations, severe anemia, kidney disease, and organ failure/severe sepsis.
