In Tuesday’s State of the Union address, President Biden roiled the GOP by reminding America of the GOP’s long-standing Republicans’ intent to cut Social Security and Medicare programs for seniors. Despite GOP denials and backpedaling over Biden’s comments, today The Lincoln Project reminded voters that these cuts were not a secret, in fact, they were in the plan introduced by Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) last fall.
The video, “It’s In The Plan” showcases an interview with Rick Scott by Fox News anchor John Roberts where Roberts calls out Scott on his spin regarding cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
“It’s exceedingly rare that The Lincoln Project ever highlights a Fox News interview for being correct about something, but John Roberts was exactly right to call Senator Scott out…but Scott’s lies were too much even for Fox,” said Reed Galen, executive director and founder of The Lincoln Project. “The GOP continues to target the most vulnerable of our citizens and lie about what they are doing. We won’t stand for it and we commend President Biden for publicly calling it out Tuesday night.”
The video will play across social platforms through the weekend and will target the DC Metro area beginning Monday.
