The People’s Organization For Progress (POP) will have a March & Rally Against Police Brutality on today, Friday, October 22, 2021, 4:30pm at the Fraternal Order Of Police Lodge 12, 51 Rector Street in Newark, NJ.

The lodge is located on the corner of Rector and Fulton Street near McCarter Highway. The demonstration will begin at the FOP lodge and then protestors will march to the Federal Building at 970 Broad Street in Newark.

“The purpose of the demonstration is to highlight the issue of police brutality, demand police review boards with subpoena and investigatory powers, protest police efforts that blocked them in court, and show support for legislation that will make it possible for municipalities to have police review boards with subpoena powers,” stated Lawrence Hamm, Chairman, People’s Organization For Progress.

The Fraternal Order Of Police is one of the police organizations that initiated a law suit against the City Of Newark for establishing a police review board with subpoena powers.
