The following is a statement by Lawrence Hamm, Chairman, People’s Organization For Progress, regarding the current deadly conflict between Palestinians and Israelis.

The Palestinian people are being oppressed by the state of Israel.

The People’s Organization For Progress (POP) supports the liberation, self-determination, and human rights of the Palestinian people.

We call for an immediate halt to the current military attacks, bombing, air strikes, and repression by the government of Israel against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.

We call for an end to all efforts by the government of Israel and non-government forces to displace the Palestinian people and take their, land, homes, and property. We call for an end to the demolition of Palestinian homes and attacks on mosques. We call for an end to the illegal settlements and to the military occupation by Israel.

We call for an end to U.S. military aid to Israel until the Palestinian people’s freedom, human rights, civil rights, equal rights, right of return to their homeland, and right to establish a truly free and independent state is fully recognized and respected by the government of Israel.

We support the struggle of the Palestinian people against the apartheid laws, policies, and practices of the state of Israel.

The current policy of the Biden administration towards the Israeli and Palestinian conflict is wrong. The uncritical, unbalanced and lopsided support of the U.S. government towards Israel will not lead to peace. It will only lead to more blood shed and conflict.

The Biden administration must develop a new and truly balanced policy towards the conflict that treats the Palestinians fairly, fully recognizes and respects all of their rights under international law, and the United Nations resolutions on this matter.

POP supports the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement as a means to change the policies of the U.S. and Israel towards the Palestinians.
