On Thursday, Aug. 27, the NYS Poor People’s Campaign will hold a virtual town hall sharing the testimony of impacted New Yorkers and our demands with our state legislators and candidates.

The “Heal Healthcare and House the Poor: Healthcare and Housing Town Hall” will be hosted by the NYS Poor People’s Campaign. It will be held via Zoom and streamed on the NYS PPC Facebook page.

During this virtual town hall, we will hear from organizers on the front lines of the struggles for our rights to healthcare and housing in New York State.

Participants will include: Rev. Marcus Jackson and Becca Forsyth of the NYS Poor People’s Campaign, Rev. Ben Fitzgerald-Fye, Vernell Robinson of Community Voices Heard, Julie Farrar of ADAPT Capital Region, Patrick Braswell of Rochester Union of the Homeless, and other speakers.

New York is a rich state and yet we have the highest levels of inequality in the country. We know that there is enough wealth to go around to make sure everyone’s basic needs are met. Our state government must take bold and immediate action to secure housing and healthcare for all through this public health crisis and beyond.

This virtual town hall will take place on Thursday, Aug. 27, 6:00 pm-7:30 pm ET
