Hypocritical right-wing Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler never said anything when Trump inserted his name on stimulus checks–but is now complaining WNBA players should not have BLM on their warmup shirts.

WNBA players and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) are calling for the removal of Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler as co-owner of the Atlanta Dream.

The right-wing Georgia senator who has been a co-owner of the Dream since 2011, recently in a FOX News interview characterized Black police protesters in Atlanta as “mob rule.” Atlanta is an open-carry state.

Tuesday, Loeffler stated her opposition to the WNBA’s announcement that players will wear warmup shirts saying “Black Lives Matter” and “Say Her Name.”

In a letter to WNBA commissioner Cathey Engelber, Loeffler states “The truth is, we need less—not more politics in sports. In a time when polarizing politics is as divisive as ever, sports has the power to be a unifying antidote. And now more than ever, we should be united in our goal to remove politics from sports.”

Yesterday, Loeffler also sent out a tweet saying “WNBA should stand for and unite around the American Flag — not divisive political movements like BLM that unapologetically seek to defund the police.”

While calling for less politics in sports Loeffler, said the warmup shirts should be emblazoned with pictures of the American flag.

After the circulation of Loeffler’s letter, the WNBPA tweeted out a caption saying “E-N-O-U-G-H! O-U-T!”

In response to Loeffler, WNBA commissioner Cathey Engelber “The WNBA is based on the principle of equal and fair treatment of all people and we, along with the teams and players, will continue to use our platforms to vigorously advocate for social justice. Sen. Kelly Loeffler has not served as Governor of the Atlanta Dream since October 2019 and is no longer involved in the day-to-day business of the team.”

Atlanta Dream guard Renee Montgomery tweeted “I’m pretty sad to see that my team ownership is not supportive of the movement & all that it stands for. I was already sitting out this season & this is an example of why. I would love to have a conversation with you about the matter if you’re down?”

Washington Mystics guard Natasha Cloud said “When our league is made up of 80% of Black females this directly affects us. Every single day when we take off those uniforms, we walk out into the world and we can potentially be George Floyd. Shoot, we can be in our beds and be Breonna Taylor, so for her to come out and say that we’re divisive and that Black Lives Matter movement is a divisive organization — I call her BS on that.”
