A VERY WORTHY CAUSE

The next time you have a conversation with friends and discuss the Academy Awards and get a little jealous and annoyed with all of the free high end goodies celebrities get—not to mention the fabulous designer gift bags they gift come in—know that there are some unselfish people in world.

Entrepreneur Paul Poux has attended many high profile events and received everything from high-end leather designer gift bags to paper shopping bags filled with everything from silk dresses to designer cufflink sets.

Poux isn’t on the A through D list of celebrities either. In fact, if you passed Paul on the street you wouldn’t even know who he is. Poux partnered with Water Partners International, an organization committed to providing clean drinking water to communities in developing countries and Caravan, a clothing boutique that has an audience of consumers who donate money for a good cause. “I thought, let’s put an event together. We have so much. Let’s use some of it to help people who have so little, Poux said, in an interview.

Gift Bags for Good silent auction attendees browsed around Caravan looking at the gift bags and their contents. Most were overwhelmed by the many options to bid on. “All of the gift bags are about excess. It’s great to see that all of this excess can benefit something so simple such as clean water, said Michael Anastasio, who was in attendance. Tables were filled with goodies such as skin care products, clothing, wine, liquor, note cards and much more.

Celebrity Shamika Cotton says she is always looking for new organizations to support. She was excited to have the opportunity to provide something to help a great cause. “Water seems so simple, but when you think about all of the designer water we drink everyday while there are people in the world who just want clean drinkable water, it’s great to have an organization such as Water Partners International to meet that need, notes Cotton.
