Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., today announced the sentencing of Bryan Johnson, 41, to 25 years-to-life in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing and raping his daughter between the ages of 8- and 10-years-old.

On June 18, 2019, Johnson was convicted by a New York State Supreme Court jury of 17 counts, including predatory sexual assault, rape in the first degree, and criminal sexual act.

“This lengthy prison sentence is the only appropriate outcome for this horrific case of child sexual assault,” Vance said. “From age 8 to age 10, this young girl lived in terror of her father, until she mustered the courage to tell an online religious advisor about the abuse she endured.”

“My Office’s Special Victims Bureau conducted a thorough and unrelenting investigation into the little information that the religious advisor could provide police, and finally put a stop to the defendant’s despicable conduct.

“With the full support of our prosecutors, investigators, and social workers behind her, this survivor took the stand in an immense act of courage – as did the defendant’s brave stepdaughter, who testified about her own abuse at her stepfather’s hands.

“I am in awe of their resiliency, and hope that their courage gives others the strength to come forward. I urge anyone who is a victim of child abuse or knows a victim of child abuse to call our hotline at 212-335-4308. Help is available for those in need.”
