CREDO Action campaign director Nicole Regalado issued the following statement after the DOJ announced it will not be filing federal charges against NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo for murdering Eric Garner on the street.

CREDO Action has collected over 40,000 signatures calling on NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio to fire all of the officers involved with the police killings of Eric Garner and Delrawn Small.

“The DOJ just ensured there will be no justice for Eric Garner by refusing to file federal charges against the police officer who murdered him,” said CREDO Action campaign director Nicole Regalado. “Black and brown communities have been under constant attack by the Trump administration and their racist policies, which is why progressives must stand firmly together with them by calling out racism in all its forms. As a presidential candidate running as a progressive, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is uniquely situated to lead by example by finally firing Derek Pantaleo and the other officers involved.”

CREDO Action, part of CREDO Mobile, is a social change network of over five million activists, sending tens of millions of petition signatures and hundreds of thousands of phone calls to decision-makers each year. CREDO Action members also participate in meetings, protests and other direct action for progressive change.
