The New York Botanical Holiday Train Show Is More than a Show—it’s Pure Magic

The holiday train show at the New York Botanical Garden is back and grander than ever. The greatest of all train shows delivers yet another holiday season of eye-popping phenomenon with its larger-than-life G-scale locomotives, bridges and 150 landmarks. This year’s exhibition showcases Midtown Manhattan’s iconic skyscrapers and other architectural wonders, featuring new replicas of the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, General Electric Building, and St. Bartholomew’s Church.

The show, which was created by artist Paul Busse, who partnered with the New York Botanical Garden in 1992, crafts nature with architecture in a fairy-tale like fashion of twinkling lights, locomotive sounds and impressive models moving across bridges and through tunnels. There is nearly a half-mile of train tracks running overhead and along beautiful verdure paths of plants and vegetation.

The holiday season offers a variety of imaginative and traditional showcases for families to marvel over and enjoy, but, if you only had one to place at the top of your to-do list, then this is the one for you. It’s more than just a display of model trains. It’s a whimsical adventure, a fanciful treat of magic and creativity rolled into one package, and definitely worth witnessing live and in person at least once in a lifetime.

After twenty-six years, the showcase continues to fascinate visitors young and old with its renditions and additions of bridges, skyscrapers and landmarks that brings thousands of tourists and families to New York City every year. More than 260,972 visited the show in 2016, and that number is already being exceeded for 2017 by families from around the world curious and eager to catch a glimpse of the greatest train show in town. To many, this show has not only become a part of the city as a whole, but a holiday tradition that absolutely cannot be missed.

The holiday train show runs from Wednesday, November 22, 2017 – Monday, January 15, 2018. For ticket information contact 718-817-8700 or www.nybg.org
