ABC And Corporate Media Bending Over—Instead Of Standing Against Trump’s Tyranny

ABC’s suspension of the Jimmy Kimmel Live show is the most recent gutless response to the extortion tactics of the convict now perpetrating his criminality inside the White House. Corporate entities, like ABC, who own media companies, should be frontline soldiers standing up to this authoritarian administration that is busy burning the Constitution and revoking the civil liberties of Americans.

Instead, these powerful wealthy companies are the main ones offering their bended upturned butts over voluntarily to the braggadocios bully now ruling as dictator-in-chief in Washington, D.C.

Where is America’s Fourth Estate when they are needed the most?  What happened to standing up for the First Amendment? Is free speech now to become the victim of rightwing MAGA partisan censorship?

Disney, the parent company which owns ABC, pulled the plug on Kimmel’s show unmistakably because of the threats coming from Trump’s FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. Carr characterized Kimmel’s Monday monologue as “sick” adding that “We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to change conduct and take actions on Kimmel, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

The main lie to expose here is this: the Trump rightwing cabal is really angry at Kimmell because he used video to show Trump’s insensitive response to a reporter’s question about Charlie Kirk—where Trump quickly changed the subject, about Kirk, to talk about his building of a White House Ballroom.

After this threat, ABC caved by indefinitely suspending Kimmel’s show to appease the censoring autocratic dictates of the rising rogue regime of Trump.

Anyone who has ever encountered a bully knows the more you let them punch you is the more bullies will continue to do so. In July, CBS News, and its parent company Paramount Global, inexplicably paid Trump $16 million because he whined about the editing of a CBS News interview with Vice-President Kamala Harris. And, last December, ABC paid Trump $15 million to settle a lawsuit regarding George Stephanopoulos’ comments that Trump was found liable of rape, as opposed to sexual abuse.

There are also currently two other pending Trump lawsuits against the Des Moines Register, and the Wall Street Journal, for $10 billion. The lawsuit against the New York Times, for $15 billion was tossed out today by a judge.

At this crucial moment in American history, establishment media is deserting Americans, by not using all the weight of their wealthy journalistic enterprises to forcefully push back against Trump. Will corporate American journalism continue to sit down, and play nice, in the face of rising fascism? Will they retreat from Trump, as Black and independent media do the heavy lifting in fighting for the preservation of the First Amendment and free speech?

When corporate media companies backdown, to a bully like Trump, every American journalist, columnist, writer, satirist, comedian—or citizen, is at risk. If these companies, which are supposed to be about telling truth, keep giving in to Trump more people like Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert, will be cancelled, by the supposed opponents of “cancel culture.”

If Republicans really cared about free speech, and the First Amendment, they would’ve denounced FCC Chairman Carr’s threats against ABC. But rightwing hypocrisy reigns supreme in D.C. And the irony here is that Charlie Kirk’s speeches and commentary are filled with obnoxious, xenophobic, racist, bigoted bile—that is praised by the very frauds that are cheering the suspension silencing of Jimmy Kimmel.

But worst of all, we see wealthy cowardly corporate media companies bending over and spreading wide for Trump.
