Three teenage thieves attempted to commit a robbery inside a dorm Wednesday on the campus of Saint John’s College in Queens.

The incident unfolded around 1:25 p.m., according to campus officials.

Three males managed to bypass campus security and enter the dorm where they attempted to steal money from a student in the dorm. One of the robbery suspects fired a shot, but police reported that no one was injured during the incident.

The three suspects then fled the campus empty-handed, but were  apprehended by the police a few blocks away.

Police did not immediately release the identities of the men taken into custody, and charges are pending, said a spokesman for the police.

The breach in security had many students concerned about safety on campus.

“I always said St. John’s open campus is not safe at all,” one student posted to social media.

“Welcome to St. Johns,” another student posted. “Where Shots Are Made In The Residence Halls But Not On the Basketball Courts.”

Public Safety at the campus have not yet responded to security concerns at the college and the police investigation is ongoing.
