2024-25 NBA Awards Finalists Announced

Kia NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) Finalists

The MVP race features three international superstars:​

  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder): The Canadian guard led the league with an average of 32.7 points per game, propelling the Thunder to a league-best 68-14 record. His dynamic playmaking and scoring prowess have positioned him as a frontrunner for the award.
  • Nikola Jokić (Denver Nuggets): The Serbian center continued his dominance, averaging a triple-double with 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 10.2 assists per game. A win would mark his fourth MVP, tying him with legends like LeBron James and Wilt Chamberlain.
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks): The Greek forward maintained elite performance levels, averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game. His leadership kept the Bucks competitive throughout the season.

Notably, this marks the seventh consecutive year without a U.S.-born MVP finalist, underscoring the NBA’s international growth.

  • Stephon Castle (San Antonio Spurs): Castle’s consistent performances and leadership on the court have made him a standout rookie.
  • Zaccharie Risacher (Atlanta Hawks): The French forward demonstrated versatility and scoring ability, contributing significantly to the Hawks’ offense. ​
  • Jaylen Wells (Memphis Grizzlies): Wells showcased his scoring touch and adaptability, becoming a key player for the Grizzlies. ​

Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Finalists

  • Dyson Daniels (Atlanta Hawks): Daniels’ defensive versatility and ability to guard multiple positions have been crucial for the Hawks. ​

It’s worth noting that Victor Wembanyama was ineligible for this award due to not meeting the minimum games played requirement.
