After surging past Donald Trump, in both Georgia and Pennsylvania, it is looking more likely than ever that Joe Biden will become the 46th president of the United States of America.

As of 10 AM today, in Pennsylvania, Biden has taken a slight lead and now has 49.5 percent of the vote (3,295,327 votes) to Trump’s 49.4 of the vote (3,289,731 votes).

The remaining votes appear to favor Biden, since these votes will be coming from heavily Democratic areas like Philadelphia, or, from mail-in ballots, which also favor Democrats.

As of 10 AM today, in Georgia, Biden has pulled ahead, albeit, with a smaller lead than in Pennsylvania. Both Biden and Trump hold 49.4 percent of the vote in Georgia–but Biden’s holds a higher margin of over 1,000 votes.

As is the case in Pennsylvania, the remaining votes in Georgia favor Biden, since they are also from heavily Democratic areas like Atlanta.

If Biden is able to increase his lead in Pennsylvania, and gains the state’s 20 electoral votes, he would automatically become the president-elect with 273 electoral votes.

If Biden adds to his lead in Georgia–which may not get him over the threshold of a recount–and receives the state’s 16 electoral votes, he would be on the cusp of being the president-elect with 269 votes, but would need 1 more electoral vote to cement the victory–and win the White House.
